HOST: Hello there!

YOU: Hello!

HOST: How are you doing?

YOU: Exhausted

HOST: Exhausted from surfing the net, are we?

On stage, an actor has a conversation with a volunteer from the audience. The catch? The volunteer is not allowed to talk, and must respond to the actor via an interpreter - the cartoon character, Etta, projected on a screen between them. The volunteer uses a computer interface (in Max/MSP) to command Etta to execute any of her (currently fifteen) animated gestures, three of which you can try above.      Photos:       In Performance     Etta's Interface
